HAZARDS
MERCURY, SODIUM, LEAD AND CADMIUM Most fluorescent lamps also contain potentially harmful substances such as highly toxic heavy metals, in particular mercury, lead and cadmium. These substances can be absorbed through inhalation or skin contact. If they enter the body, they can cause damage to the liver, kidneys and the brain.Other lamps contain sodium, which if exposed to damp air will produce gasses which may ignite or explode.
