Plastic bottle recycling

Why Is Plastics Recycling Important ?.

Good recycling and environmental performance, combined with the cost savings offered by plastics recycling, combine to offer a strategic approach to risk minimisation.

The only plastics we can currently accept for recycling are bottles. Although there are a number of different types of plastic, only plastic bottles will be accepted.

We will accept any sort of plastic bottle that contained a liquid when purchased - be it viscous (sticky) or not. For example, plastic water bottles, plastic milk bottles and plastic detergent bottles.

You do not have to worry about the kind of plastic, for example, HDPE, PET, or any symbols on the items. Just remember to remove the tops and, if possible, give them a quick rinse before putting into your recycling bag

We will not take the following items:

  • yoghurt pots (including Yakult/Danone pots)
  • margarine tubs
  • plastic microwave food containers
  • plastic film, for example, cling film

Please note that whilst a recycling symbol or message stating that something is recyclable might be found on many other plastic items, in practice, however, it means very little as virtually anything can be recycled if the relevant reprocessing facilities exist.

Unfortunately, it is more often the case that they do not exist, as there is not a market for the material concerned.

Please note this is not a stand alone service.
